Norway offers an environment where biotech can prosper, according to the investment magazine Regions & Locations Guide 1/2009. Norway has an excellent science base, a high level of GDP, and a long tradition of international collaboration.

In 2007, Norway was home to 2,5 % of Europe's biotech companies. Norway is ranked 11th when comparing the number of product candidates to other European countries. The Norwegian Bioindustry Association recently performed a survey to map the Norwegian Clinical Development Pipeline. The survey showed that the Norwegian pipeline has a healthy rate of growth inn all but clinical Phase III.
